Loom made async video normal at work. ClipnClip keeps the same habit, record, share a link, get answers, and changes the parts teams most often ask about: what it costs, where the videos live and what happens to your data. Here is how the two compare today.
Price per creator
Loom's Business + AI plan is $24 per creator per month (loom.com/pricing, October 2026). ClipnClip Cloud is a fraction of that, and when you connect your own storage bucket the price drops again, because we are no longer paying to store your files. Viewers and commenters are free on both.
If you would rather not pay monthly at all, the ClipnClip desktop app is a one-time licence that works fully offline. Loom does not offer a pay-once option.
Where your videos are stored
This is the biggest difference. Loom stores every video in its own cloud. ClipnClip lets each workspace choose:
- ClipnClip Cloud, hosted by us in the EU or the US.
- Your own S3-compatible bucket: Amazon S3, Cloudflare R2, Backblaze B2, Wasabi or MinIO, in any region. Video is never stored on our servers.
- Only on your computer, with the desktop app. Nothing is stored on our servers at all.
For teams with a data protection officer, a client contract that names a region, or simply a large library, owning the bucket changes the conversation.
AI features
Both products write transcripts, summaries, chapters and titles. On ClipnClip they are included on every plan, including free, at no extra cost, and you can plug in your own AI provider key. Your recordings and transcripts are never used to train any model.
Editing
ClipnClip edits by text: delete words from the transcript and the video follows. Filler words and long pauses can be removed automatically, and you can blur keys, emails or patient data before anyone sees them, both live and in the saved file.
Free plan
Loom's free plan allows 25 videos of up to 5 minutes (October 2026). ClipnClip's free plan allows 50 videos of up to 10 minutes each at 1080p, with AI transcripts, comments and reactions.
Switching
Your viewers do not need an account on either product, so switching does not change anything for the people you send videos to. One-click import of an existing Loom library is coming soon; until then, teams usually record new videos in ClipnClip and leave the old library where it is.
Which one should you pick?
If you are happy inside one vendor's cloud and the price works for you, Loom is a mature product. If cost per creator, data residency or owning your files matters, ClipnClip was built for exactly that.
